On August 21st, Chengdu Silicon Power Technology held the sixth ‘Silicon Power Salon’. Dr. Chen Yue, general manager of MagnaChip’s global sales and marketing in Korea, Dr. Lai Jie, senior manager of MagnaChip’s marketing department of foundry business in North America and Europe, Mr. Yu Changshuang, Director of MagnaChip’s China Regional Sales Business, and Jiang Wei, General Manager of Sichuan Hongxin Equity Investment Fund Management Co., Ltd. gave speeches on their respective themes. Over 80 people include the head of the start-up teams from Chengdu, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Jiangsu and other places, the engineers and technical leaders of the relevant semiconductor companies, and Silicon Power Technology's partners participated in the event.

      Jesse Parker, general manager of Chengdu Silicon Power Technology gave an opening speech. Jesse Parker first introduced the business type and development of Silicon Power Technology. Jesse Parker said that Silicon Power Technology is an incubator that provides full-service services to entrepreneurs, focusing on analog semiconductors and power semiconductors. The company aims to solve the pain points of entrepreneurs and identify and cultivate potential analog and power semiconductor companies. The incubator not only provides entrepreneurs with office space and general hardware facilities, but also technical services and financial services. The most important two aspects of technical services are EDA software and tape-out. We have previously reached a cooperation agreement with world-renowned EDA suppliers Cadence and SILVACO. Startups based in Silicon Power Technology will be allowed to use the EDA software of these two vendors for free. As for tape-out service, CMCS and other domestic chip foundry companies have joined the company's technology partner program. Through this platform, start-ups will have access to these first-class companies for tape-out and design.

      Jesse Parker also said that although established for only half a year, Silicon Power Technology has gathered a wealth of industry resources, accumulated a rich network, and won a good reputation. At present, there are already six start-ups that have been selected to be in the incubator to accept the incubation. The goal of this year is to screen more than ten start-up teams and projects to incubate. He has great confidence that the goal can be achieved by the end of this year.



    Dr. Chen Yue gave an introduction of Magna Semiconductor. Dr. Chen Yue graduated from the University of Cambridge, England. He has worked on the research of semiconductor high voltage devices and obtained 2 US patents. He is currently responsible for the global sales and marketing of MagnaChip’s foundry. Dr. Chen Yue said that MagnaChip Semiconductor is a Foundry manufacturer with both R&D and production capabilities. The company is headquartered in South Korea and has sales offices in the United States, Germany, China, and Japan. MagnaChip has 0.5um, 0.35um, 0.18um, 0.13um, 0.11um, 90nm, 65nm and other process production lines, and 0.13/0.18um technology is the major business. MagnaChip has BCD/UHV, mixed signal, NVM, high voltage, RF and other process technologies. The technical services and product application markets are diverse, mainly focusing on smart phones, automotive electronics, autonomous vehicles, 5G, virtual reality, Internet of Things, industry application, LED lighting and other fields.

      Dr.Lai Jie gave a keynote speech on BCD process technology. Dr. He graduated from the University of California, USA, and has worked in the production management, R&D and design of semiconductor products such as BCD devices, RF and silicon optical communication in MACOM, Global Communication Semiconductors, Microsemi, Mellanox, etc., and obtained five US patents. He’s now working in the North American and European marketing divisions of the MagnaChip foundry business. Dr. Lai Jie introduced MagnaChip's BCD technology roadmap. 0.13um and 0.18um BCD+NVM technology and BCD technology have met the reliability of automotive-grade standards. Dr. Lai Jie said that MagnaChip's BCD technology covers various voltage levels from 5V low voltage to 400V high voltage. The technology, products and solutions are mainly used in mobile communication, industrial and IoT applications, automotive electronics, solar energy and medical fields. The deep trench isolation BCD is mainly 0.35um\65V, 0.18um\150V, 0.18um\100V technology, and the node isolation BCD is mainly 0.35um \40V, 0.18um\40V, 0.18um\50V, 0.13um\40V technology. The SOI is mainly 0.18um\200V technology. 0.13um BCDN refers to BCD+NVM technology. 0.13um\40 VBCDN can be used in digital, analog, analog high voltage, power semiconductor and other fields. 0.13um\120 VBCDN can be used in digital, high voltage power semiconductor and other fields. In the introduction of 0.18um BCD technology, Dr. Jie said that 0.18um BCD is mainly used in the field of network equipment power supply, LED driver, audio amplification, medical electronics, power management DC conversion, USB interface, etc. BCD technology with automobile-grade-level reliability is mainly used in the fields or equipment of automobiles, solar panels, ultrasonic imaging equipment, aircraft, etc. He also introduced the parameters and performance of BCD technology that meet different reliability levels.


      Yu Changshuang gave a speech on UHV technology. He graduated from Harbin Institute of Technology. He used to work in Shanghai Hongli Semiconductor's customer engineering in Europe and North America, and merged Huahong Grace Semiconductor's sales business in Europe. He is now responsible for the marketing and sales of Magnachip's semiconductor foundry business in China. Yu Changshuang said that UHV technology is mainly applied in LED lighting, computers, consumer electronics, communications, and industrial fields. Magnachip currently has 0.35μm\13, 18, 22 layers, half-bridge low-side technology from 350V to 700V and half-bridge high-side technology of 600V and greater than 600V. Yu Changshuang also introduced the advantages of nLDMOS based on 0.35um UHV technology and the parameter states of JFET and Depletion nLDMOS by comparing parameters.



      Finally, Jiang Wei gave a speech on the theme of “Breaking the fog – understanding the semiconductor entrepreneurship from the perspective of investors”. Jiang Wei the General Manager said that you have no idea what attracts investors in entrepreneurs. In fact, because of the fierce market competition, the investors value those who focus on the segmented markets. They care about the background and experience of team members, because such a team shows more potential for development. Investors also believe that good entrepreneurs can have a keen understanding of the market, predict the trend of product development, and accurately position the market for products.

      Jiang Wei also introduced the relevant situation of Sichuan Hongxin Equity Investment Fund Management Co., Ltd. Jiang Wei said that Sichuan Hongxin Equity is established for the management and operation of Sichuan Province IC and Information Security Industry Investment Fund, one of the largest industrial guiding funds in Sichuan Province. Hongxin Equity is a professional management company for industrial investment funds co-established by Sichuan Development Industry Guiding Equity Investment Fund Management Co., Ltd. and Chengdu Hi-tech Investment Group Co., Ltd. The fund focuses on the upstream and downstream of the IC and information security industry chain, mainly for the mature enterprises. As of July 2019, the fund has invested in 12 projects with a total value of RMB 4.85 billion yuan. Jiang Wei also briefly introduced the fund investment process.
